    • Julia Sawalha

      Julia Sawalha has made many film and television appearances since her debut role as Lynda Day on Press Gang (1989), though she has always said that the character that resembles her real-life personality most is Lynda. Since her 5 years on "Press Gang" where she worked opposite her real-life love (at the time) Dexter Fletcher, she has become most well-known in the role of Saffy in Absolutely Fabulous (1992). She has also worked on many other projects, including playing the role of Lydia Bennett in the miniseries of Pride and Prejudice (1995) based on Jane Austen's novel of the same name. Julia has received due honor for her acting talents, as is noticed by her winning the BAFTA award for her role as Lynda Day on "Press Gang". She played the role of Dorcas Lane in the BBC costume drama series Lark Rise To Candleford - an adaptation of Flora Thompson's idyllic 19th Century rural Oxfordshire autobiography.

The show received amazing reviews and has been sold to several countries. Julia is living and working in Oslo. Her next project is "Milk 2", and the lead role in the Swedish production "The Beekeeper" with the director, Marcus Carlsson.

      Julia Schneider was born in Jerusalem in 1990 and was raised trilingual in Israel and Austria; speaking German, Hebrew and English. She studied musical theater at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in London followed by translation studies in Graz and Vienna. In 2014 she graduated from the Anton Bruckner University with a Bachelor of Arts in acting (including an exchange semester at the Yoram Levinstein Acting Studio in Tel Aviv). She has played at the Landestheater Linz, Dionysus Festival in Croatia and several fringe productions. At the Salzkammergut Festwochen she played in a one-woman show called "Iphigenie auf Kobane"; portraying various strong women with focus on the Kurdish fighters in Kobane. As a member of the M-Arts Culture Association she was part of the organizational direction of the Art Festival "Spiel", located at an organic farm in Austria. The duality of her identity, the complexity of belonging and living between different cultures has strongly influenced her artistic endeavors. The stage should be a laboratory, in which different languages, artistic disciplines and personalities continuously inspire each other. At the moment Julia Schneider lives and works in Tel Aviv, Vienna and Berlin.

      Julia Schneider began her career in the entertainment business at the age of 13. She worked as an actor for over 10 years, appearing in various TV series and feature films. In between stints as an actor, Julia had the opportunity to work behind the camera as an assistant to acclaimed casting director Stephanie Gorin. While working for SGC, Julia paid close attention to the thorough details involved in casting commercials, television series and feature films. With her behind the scenes knowledge, Julia began working more diligently on expanding her knowledge of the business side of the industry. Shortly thereafter, Julia became an assistant booker in the modeling industry. She learned the ropes of what is required to manage models, deal with top photographers, and arrange "go-sees". Julia chose to shift her focus back to actors and in the fall of 2008, she joined Ambition as an assistant. It was obvious that Julia had the knack, skill set, and passion to work with actors, and within a short time she was promoted to the head of the commercial and print division. Now heading the TV/Film department.
